The announcement comes from A24 and Film4, with Glass set to direct the film from a script that she co-wrote alongside Weronika Tofiska. So far, only Stewart has been cast to star in the film, which is said to be about “a romance fueled by ego, desire, and the American Dream.” According to The Hollywood Reporter, however, Stewart will be playing “the protective lover of a female bodybuilder,” which gives fans looking forward to the film a brief glimpse into the feature.
A24 is set to produce the film, alongside Andrea Cornwell for Lobo Films and Oliver Kassman for Escape Plan Productions. The company will also handle global release of the film, with Film4 having helped developed the film alongside the filmmakers and having co-financed the film with A24.
This will be Glass’ second feature, with Saint Maud premiering in 2019 before being postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and eventually releasing in 2021. The film received massive praise upon its launch, however, and was seen as an overall success for a debut film.
