First Look at Tom Hanks in Disney’s Live-Action Pinocchio

During Disney’s Investor Day 2022, the company shared the first official look for Robert Zemeckis’ upcoming live-action adaptation of Pinocchio, giving fans a look at the iconic puppet, as well as Tom Hanks as Geppetto.

In the photo, Hanks can be seen looking down at Pinocchio, who is still attached to strings at this point. However, fans of the iconic animated film will note that the live-action doll is a near-identical recreation from the Disney film. Hanks’ Geppetto also looks strikingly similar to the original, complete with large curly hair and a thick mustache.

Besides Hanks, the live-action Pinocchio is set to star Benjamin Evan Ainsworth as the titular Pinocchio, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, the cricket who serves as Pinocchio’s guide throughout his adventures. Also set to appear in the film is Academy Award nominee Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy, Keegan-Michael Key as “Honest” John, Academy Award nominee Lorraine Bracco as Sofia the Seagull (a new character added to the film), and Luke Evans as The Coachman.

Disney’s Pinocchio film is currently scheduled to release sometime in September on Disney+.
