During a recent interview with ComicBook.com’s Phase Zero podcast, Holland was asked about the chance of Andrew Garfield returning as Spider-Man in a future Sony film. According to Holland, he would love to see a new film, and praised how Garfield’s turn in No Way Home was received.
“I would love to see The Amazing Spider-Man 3,” Holland said. “I think what was so wonderful was how Andrew was able to kind of make amends with the character and the studio to kind of win the general public back. That scene where he saved Zendaya, the fan reactions in the theater was so spectacular. So should Sony decide to do that, they would have my full support, and obviously, so would Andrew.”
While it’s unknown if Garfield would ever return as Spider-Man in future films, he told Happy Sad Confused podcast that he was “definitely open” for it. With Holland also supporting it, and the fans also hoping to see more of Garfield, it will be interesting to see whether or not Sony looks to get the Amazing Spider-Man himself back into the suit once again.
Spider-Man: No Way Home currently holds a worldwide gross of over $1.7 billion and has become Sony’s highest-grossing film of all time. According to Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures are already actively beginning to develop their next Spider-Man film together.
