More than a month ago, it was reported that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness had undergone “significant” reshoots and additional photography, which had wrapped a while ago. Even though reshoots are a usual part of a Marvel Studios production, some fans still got worried about this because rumors started circulating that the first cut of the sequel was reportedly not able to do well with the test audience.
However, it looks like this might not be the case at all as The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the Doctor Strange 2 reshoots were done in order to add more big cameos and character introductions to the sequel’s already stacked ensemble.

According to the outlet’s source, the studio decided to have “more fun with the multiverse,” because they got excited and inspired by “the many actors crossing paths with each other in No Way Home and the playfulness of having alternate versions of characters appear onscreen in Loki.”
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness sees the return of Benedict Cumberbatch as he reprises his role as Dr. Stephen Strange. This time the Sorcerer Supreme will be joined by Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, portrayed by Elizabeth Olsen who is coming off from the critical success of WandaVision. The sequel is expected to tie into the events from WandaVision, Loki and Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The sequel will also feature MCU alums Chiwetel Ejiofor, Benedict Wong, and Rachel McAdams, who are reprising their roles as Karl Mordo, Wong, and Dr. Christine Palmer, respectively. It will also feature the introduction of the live-action debut of fan-favorite Marvel hero America Chavez., who will be portrayed by newcomer Xochitl Gomez (The Baby-Sitters Club).
