Legendary animating duo Ron Clements and John Musker, who have previously collaborated on Disney films such as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and The Princess and the Frog, are taking on DC Comics’ Metal Men for a new animated feature, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Clements and Musker are working with Space Jam: A New Legacy co-writer Celeste Ballard for the Warner Animation Group animated movie titled The Metal Men. Clements and Musker are also producing the feature and have reportedly written a treatment for the project, with the potential to direct as well.
Created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru, the Metal Men are a group of superheroes that first appeared in Showcase #37. The team revolves around a brilliant scientist, William Magnus, and his six creations that include highly advanced robots with powers and personalities linked with their respective metals, such as gold, iron, lead, tin, mercury, and platinum. The Metal Men have previously made appearances in animated series during the 1990s and 2000s.

Craig Peck will executive produce the animated movie. Former producer Alison Abbate (The Iron Giant, The Corpse Bride) and current head of Warner Animation Group is shepherding the feature for the studio.
