Mahershala Ali is set to take on the role of Blade in an upcoming Marvel Studios film, and he’ll have the support of Wesley Snipes when he does.

Snipes, who portrayed Blade in the fan-favorite trilogy series in the 90s-00s, recently reacted to a tweet that said Ali will have a hard time outdoing Snipes’ portrayal. Snipes was graceful and blended support to Ali, who Snipes believes “will do great” in his role.

Ali recently made his first technical appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a voice-only appearance in Marvel’s Eternals. Speaking on the upcoming Blade film, Ali also recently noted that they were “getting close” on the outfit and preparation for the film.

The Blade trilogy from New Line Cinema helped shepherd comic books and superheroes to the big screen. Combined, the three films brought in over $400 million at the global box office. Blade was created by writer Marv Wolfman and artist Gene Colan as a supporting character in the comic book The Tomb of Dracula #10 in July of 1973.
