The film will be based on Jewell Parker Rhodes’ book, with Curry’s Unanimous Media producing the film. The story follows 12-year-old Donte, who wishes to be more like his brother Trey, a popular kid amongst their friend group.
After getting into a run-in with their school bully — the school’s fencing captain — in which he’s framed for something he didn’t do, Donte joins a youth center and meets former Olympic fencer Arden Jones. Donte then begins to train as a competitive fencer, with the ultimate goal being to take down the bully who has been harassing him.
