Dwayne Johnson is hard at work getting ready to make his DC Extended Universe debut in Black Adam, but that hasn’t stopped fans from hoping to see the iconic actor in a Marvel Cinematic Universe role. Speaking to Collider in a new interview, Seven Bucks Productions president of production Hiram Garcia let it slip that Johnson had spoken to Marvel in the past.

When asked whether or not Johnson and his team, including Garcia, were ever contacted by Marvel, Garcia noted that Johnson and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige had spoken, but that nothing has ever progressed into more serious talks.
“DJ and Kevin [Feige] have a great relationship and we’ve flirted around a few ideas before, but nothing serious,” Garcia said. “There’s a mutual admiration for what we each have been doing and what Kevin has built over there is truly incredible. Ultimately though for us, we’ve always been very committed to what we wanted to build with Black Adam. Black Adam was the character we wanted to bring to life and who we felt DJ was destined to play. Once we set our sites on this character over a decade ago it was hard to imagine DJ playing anyone else.”

While it’s clear that Johnson isn’t ready to debut in the Marvel world of films just yet, it isn’t impossible that we’ll see the legendary actor in that universe one day. For now, though, Johnson seems focused on reigning over the DC Extended Universe when Black Adam launches.
