Following the official confirmation of Lance Reddick’s return as Continental Hotel concierge Charon, Deadline brings word that Lionsgate has finalized negotiations to bring back another fan-favorite character into the John Wick franchise. Golden Globe winner Ian McShane (Deadwood) has officially signed on to reprise his role as Continental Hotel’s New York branch manager Winston in the long-awaited John Wick: Chapter 4, which is currently in production.
“I couldn’t be happier than to welcome Ian McShane back to John Wick: Chapter 4,” director Chad Stahelski said in a statement. “He is not only an amazing actor but is an indispensable collaborator who has helped define the world of John Wick.”
Like Charon, Winston has been a long-time ally to Keanu Reeves’ titular assassin and has saved his life a few times. However, towards the end of the third film, Winston betrayed Wick in favor of the High Table in order to restore the status of his hotel.

John Wick: Chapter 4 was first announced two years ago immediately after the record-setting opening weekend of John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, which went on to gross over $300 million worldwide. The fourth installment will feature the return of Keanu Reeves as the eponymous assassin, who was last seen suffering from multiple injuries after his falling from the top of the Continental Hotel.
Joining Reeves, McShane and Reddick are franchise newcomers Japanese-British pop superstar Rina Sawayama in her film acting debut, Shamier Anderson (Awake), Bill Skarsgard (IT), Hiroyuki Sanada (Mortal Kombat), and Donnie Yen (IP Man films), who is reportedly playing an old friend of John Wick.

The film is currently scheduled to make its debut on May 27, 2022.
