Noomi Rapace May Join Will Smith for Legendary’s Brilliance

Legendary Pictures is moving ahead with their adaptation of Marcus Sakey’s Brilliance, starring Will Smith, and it’s being reported that the superstar actor may be joined by The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo herself, Noomi Rapace.

Directed by Nigerian-born filmmaker Julius Onah from a script by David Koepp, the story takes place in a world where a small group of people known as “brilliants” are born with powers that causes unrest among the humans and is eventually instigated into a full-on civil war.

Smith will play a federal agent with powers assigned to hunt down a powered terrorist while Rapace is in talks to play a tattooed and pierced “brilliant” also accused of being a terrorist by the government.

After starring as Lisbeth Salander in the Scandinavian adaptation of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and its sequels, Rapace appeared in a series of large studio projects like Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows and Ridley Scott’s Prometheus as well as smaller films like Brian De Palma’s Passion and the crime-thriller Dead Man Down. She appears later this year opposite Tom Hardy in both Child 44 and The Drop.

The film’s distributor Universal Pictures are aiming for a summer start to production with Joe Roth and Palak Patel producing alongside Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni.
