This marks the highest-grossing opening weekend since Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker released in late 2019. It also pushes the film’s global gross to $405 million, with #335 million coming from international markets. This weekend  F9 added 22 new No. 1 opening markets for a total of 45 territories and grossed $108 million this weekend total with $38 million from international markets such as Mexico, the UK, and Brazil.

NBCUniversal released the following information on its international performance:

  • Mexico opened at No.1 with an estimated $10.7M and is the biggest pandemic opening including previews above Godzilla vs Kong and Conjuring 3.
  • In the UK & Ireland after Thursday and Friday subsequentially broke the record of highest week-day and weekend-day gross since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, Saturday surpassed Friday’s record again, delivering $2.6M. F9 is the first film to gross over $2.6M in a single day since Sonic the Hedgehog, in February 2020. The total weekend is estimated at $8.3M.
  • Brazil had an outstanding opening day on Thursday ranking No.1 and becoming the highest opening day of the pandemic, surpassing Conjuring 3 that opened on a national holiday Thursday. The weekend is predicted to open at No. 1 with $2.6M.
  • Elsewhere in Latin America, Central America opened with $1.7M, the biggest opening weekend of the pandemic. Colombia opened with an estimated $1.7M with Wednesday delivering the highest preview day of the franchise.
  • Norway on Friday had the best opening day of the pandemic and the best opening day of the Fast Franchise. The weekend is estimated at $1.1M, which would be, excluding previews, the second-biggest opening weekend of the franchise just below F7.

F9 also set a pandemic-era record opening at the IMAX box office as well as it brought in $5.5 million in North America. This runs up its IMAX total to $30 million with an addition $1 million coming internationally this week. “Continuing this franchise’s appeal to broad audiences, more than half of those who attended were Hispanic and African American with Hispanics being the largest audience of those who attended,” NBCUniversal notes. “Given the Fast franchise’s devoted fanbase and historical success, F9 is poised to continue a healthy run through the summer and beyond.”
