Alice Braga (Queen of the South) is joining Oscar winner Ben Affleck (Argo, Zack Snyder’s Justice League, The Town) in Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming action-thriller Hypnotic, which is slated to begin production starting September 20 in Austin, Texas (via Deadline). The movie was originally scheduled to begin filming in April 2020 but was delayed due to the ongoing pandemic and then apparently from insurance issues, according to the outlet.’

In Hypnotic, Affleck is set to portray the role of a detective who becomes entangled in a mystery involving his missing daughter and a secret government program, while investigating a string of impossible high-end heists.
The film is co-written and directed by Robert Rodriguez (Alita: Battle Angel, Sin City). The script was also penned by Max Borenstein (Kong: Skull Island, The Terror). It is a co-production between Studio 8 and Solstice Studios with Rodriguez, Studio 8 CEO Jeff Robinov, Guy Danella, and John Graham serving as producers. Solstice will be handling the film’s US theatrical distribution rights.

Queen of the South’s Braga will next be seen in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad as Sol Soria. She is also currently filming the sci-fi thriller Share from director and co-writer Ira Rosensweig. Braga’s credits also include I Am Legend, Elysium, Predators, The New Mutants, We Are Who We Are, Soul, and more.
