Shazam! Fury of the Gods Begins Production in Atlanta

Shazam! Fury of the Gods star Zachary Levi took to Instagram to reveal that production on Warner Bros. Pictures’ highly-anticipated DC sequel has officially started in Atlanta, Georgia. In his post which you can check out below, Levi expressed how grateful he is to be able to have the opportunity to portray Shazam again, sharing that his 16-year-old self would definitely be losing his mind right now if he knew about his superhero future.

The sequel will see the Shazam family going up against new villains, with the introductions of the daughters of Atlas, Hespera, and Kalypso, who are set to be portrayed by Oscar winner Helen Mirren and Kill Bill actress Lucy Liu. West Side Story star Rachel Zeigler has also been cast for an undisclosed key role.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods will again be directed by David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation) from a screenplay written by returning scribe Henry Gayden. It will be produced by Peter Safran.

Further details about the sequel’s plot are still being kept under wraps but, most of the first film’s main cast are expected to return including Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Faith Herman, Meagan Good, Grace Fulton, Michelle Borth, Ian Chen, Ross Butler, Jovan Armand, D.J. Cotrona, Marta Milans, and Cooper Andrews.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently slated for a June 2, 2023 release.
