According to Deadline, Idris Elba is set to star in the action film Stay Frosty based on the Tyler Marceca written script with Sam Hargrave in the director’s chair. This news comes after Warner Bros. won a wild spec auction paying over $1 million for the right to use the script. Alongside Elba and Hargrave, Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg will produce.

In Stay Frosty, the protagonist is in search of an assassin after surviving a bullet to the head. They must stop the person responsible for his failed assassination attempt and still make it in time to hang out with his son for Christmas. The script can be described as a throwback to ’80’s action movies like Die Hard and Lethal Weapon thanks to the Christmas setting.
Elba is currently shooting for The Harder They Fall, a western directed by Jeymes Samuel. He will also star in the upcoming James Gunn-directed Warner Bros movie The Suicide Squad based on the DC comic books.
Before making his directorial debut with Netflix’s Extraction starring Chris Hemsworth, Hargrave has a reputable history as a stunt double and coordinator. A few of his credits include films Avengers: Endgame, Atomic Blonde, The Accountant, and Suicide Squad. Earlier in March, MGM closed a deal for a package for Hargrave to direct Combat Control, which will star Jake Gyllenhaal as Medal of Honor recipient John Chapman.
