Warner Bros. Pictures has set Guy Ritchie’s King Arthur for release on July 22, 2016. The project is said to be a re-imagining of the Arthurian legend, with the primary influence being Thomas Mallory’s “Le Morte d’Arthur,” published in 1485.
Scripted by Joby Harold, King Arthur is the first film to claim that particular release date, arriving one week after 20th Century Fox and Blue Sky Studios’ Ice Age 5 and one week before Matt Reeves’ untitled Dawn of the Planet of the Apes sequel.
Ritchie’s next film, The Man From U.N.C.L.E., meanwhile, is scheduled for release on January 16, 2015. It stars Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander, Elizabeth Debicki, Jared Harris, Hugh Grant and Luca Calvani and adapts for the big screen the classic 1960’s spy series.
