Shazam! Fury of the Gods adds Lucy Liu as villain!
A few weeks after Oscar winner Helen Mirren joined the cast in an antagonist role, DC Films’ highly-anticipated Shazam! Fury of the Gods is expanding its cast with the addition of Emmy nominee Lucy Liu (Why Women Kill) as another villain for the titular hero, according to The Wrap.

The 52-year-old actress is set to star as Kalypso, the second daughter of Atlas and sister to Mirren’s Hespera, neither of whom have their roots in the comics while their father does, created by Jack Kirby in 1975 and based on the Titan of Ancient Greek mythology. The duo join recently-cast West Side Story breakout star Rachel Zegler, though her key role is currently being kept to the thunderbolt-adorned chest.
The film will see screenwriter Henry Gayden and director David F. Sandberg (Annabelle: Creation) returning to their respective positions alongside producer Peter Safran and stars Zachary Levi, Jack Dylan Grazer, Marta Milans, Asher Angel, Meagan Good, Faithe Herman, and Adam Brody.

The 2019 DC Extended Universe chapter centered on teenager Billy Batson as he finds himself chosen by the ancient wizard Shazam to be his new champion by saying his name, allowing him to transform into an adult superhero with a number of exciting powers, while still retaining his kid mentality. While testing the limits of his abilities and getting into some mischief with the help of his foster brother Freddy Freeman, he finds himself forced to stop the evil Dr. Thaddeus Sivana and the Seven Deadly Sins.
The Shazam! cast included Asher Angel (Andi Mack) as Billy Batson, Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy) as The Wizard, Mark Strong (Kingsman) in the role of Super-Villain Dr. Thaddeus Sivana and Jack Dylan Grazer (IT) as Freddy, part of the foster family that included Mary, played by Grace Fulton (Annabelle: Creation); Darla, played by Faithe Herman (This is Us); Eugene, played by Ian Chen (Fresh Off the Boat); and Pedro, played by Jovan Armand (Hawaii Five-0). Cooper Andrews (The Walking Dead) and Marta Milans (Killer Women) played foster parents Victor and Rosa Vasquez.
