According to Deadline, actor/comedian/writer team Kenny and Keith Lucas -also known as The Lucas Brothers- are teaming up with comedy powerhouse Judd Apatow for a currently untitled autobiographical film project at Universal Pictures. The identical twins will write and star in the movie about their lives in Newark, New Jersey, with Apatow producing via his Apatow Productions. Jarrad Paul and Andrew Mogel (Yes Man, The D Train) will co-write alongside the brothers.
It is unknown if Apatow will direct the project, but it would be in line with the mogul’s track record of shepherding fresh comedy talent to the big screen in their first starring roles (Steve Carrell, Seth Rogen, Amy Schumer, Pete Davidson, etc).

The Lucas Brothers have recently received for co-writing the story for recent Warner Bros./HBO Max release Judas and the Black Messiah about the betrayal of Black Panther leader Fred Hampton (Daniel Kaluuya) by FBI informant William O’Neal (Lakeith Stanfield) in the late 1960’s. They were honored with a 2021 WGA Award for Best Original Screenplay, which they penned alongside Will Berson and Shaka King.
Perhaps best known onscreen for their roles as dorm rats Kenny and Keith Yang in the 2014 hit 22 Jump Street, they are set to re-team with that film’s directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller for an untitled comedy also at Universal. Lord and Miller will produce that film. The hot duo is also working on a Revenge of the Nerds reboot for 20th Century Fox which they will star in and co-write for producer Seth McFarlane (Family Guy, Ted).
