Anne Hathaway Eyes The Intern Opposite Robert De Niro

Anne Hathaway is, according to The Hollywood Reporter, targeting a leading role opposite Robert De Niro in writer-director Nancy Meyers’ upcoming The Intern. Reese Witherspoon and Tina Fey were both previously attached to the comedy.

The story would see Hathaway starring as the founder of a successful company who, as part of a new program, takes in a senior citizen (De Niro) to be her intern.

Hathaway last starred in 2012’s Les Miserables, although she made a cameo appearance in last year’s Don Jon. She’ll next lend her voice to Rio 2 and will, later this year, star in both Kate Barker-Froyland’s Song One and Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.

To be produced by Scott Rudin, The Intern is planned to go into production shortly.
