Sir Ben Kingsley Joining Shawn Levy’s Night at the Museum 3

More names keep being added to the roster for Shawn Levy and Ben Stiller’s return to the popular family franchise Night at the Museum 3 and the latest name is none other than Sir Ben Kingsley, who has signed on to play an Egyptian pharaoh on display at the British Museum (where Stiller’s character is now working) who is revived by a magic tablet.

Kingsley joins the confirmed cast of Stiller, Rebel Wilson, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan and Ricky Gervais – those last four returning for their third go-round.

The Oscar-winning actor was recently seen in last year’s global blockbuster Iron Man 3 as well as in the movie based on Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game, plus he also has a number of smaller indie films in the can that will probably be released sometime over the course of 2014.

The previous two installments of the “Night at the Museum” franchise have grossed just short of a billion dollars combined globally. Levy returns to the director’s chair for the third time, once again working from a script written by Thomas Lennon and Robert Ben Garant with David Guion and Michael Handelman.

20th Century Fox already plans on releasing the movie in this year’s upcoming holiday season on December 19, 2014.
