Two more films have bit the delay dust as Warner Bros. has elected to postpone the theatrical releases of Wonder Woman 1984, In the Heights, Scoob and Malignant, with the former being pushed to an August release while the latter three remain undated until after the coronavirus pandemic has passed. “When we greenlit Wonder Woman 1984, it was with every intention to be viewed on the big screen and are excited to announce that Warner Bros. Pictures will be bringing the film to theatres on Aug. 14,” Toby Emmerich, Warner Bros. Pictures Group chairman, said in a statement. “We hope the world will be in a safer and healthier place by then.”
The four films join a large list of titles that studios are pushing back and indefinitely delaying amidst the pandemic, with Disney delaying a number of films including Mulan, The New Mutants and Black Widow, MGM having started it with the delay of No Time to Die, Paramount pulling A Quiet Place Part II from its calendar and Universal pushing F9: The Fast Saga back a whole year.
Fast forward to the 1980s as Wonder Woman’s next big-screen adventure finds her facing an all-new foe: The Cheetah. As previously announced, the film stars Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman and Kristen Wiig in the role of the Super-Villain The Cheetah, as well as Pedro Pascal. Chris Pine also returns as Steve Trevor.
Patty Jenkins (Wonder Woman, Monster) returns to direct the sequel, while Jenkins, Charles Roven, Deborah Snyder, Zack Snyder, Stephen Jones, and Gal Gadot are producing the film. Rebecca Roven Oakley, Richard Suckle, Wesley Coller, Geoff Johns, and Walter Hamada are the executive producers.

Originally set to open in theaters June 5, Wonder Woman 1984, which is based on the character created by William Moulton Marston, appearing in comic books published by DC Entertainment, will now hit theaters on August 14. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company.
Scoob is written by Matt Lieberman (The Addams Family) and directed by Tony Cervone (Space Jam). The film will follow the mystery-solving group as they must team up with other characters from the Hanna-Barbera universe to save the world from supervillain Dick Dastardly.
The cast includes a new generation of “meddling kids” with Zac Efron as Fred Jones, Amanda Seyfried as Daphne Blake, Will Forte as Norville “Shaggy” Rogers, Gina Rodriguez as Velma Dinkley, Tarcy Morgan as Dick Dastardly, and Frank Welker as Scooby-Doo. Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg (The Fighter, The Departed) and Golden Globe nominee Jason Isaacs (The State Within, The OA) have also been cast in the roles of superhero Blue Falcon and villain Dick Dastardly. The pair will be joining the previously announced Ken Jeong as Dynomutt and Kiersey Clemons as Dee Dee Sykes.

The project, produced by Chris Columbus, Charles Roven, Richard Suckle, and Allison Abbate, will bring back those pesky kids and their pal Scooby, all of whom were last seen on the big screen in 2004’s live-action misfire Scooby-Doo 2: Monster’s Unleashed.
Malignant will star Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle), Jake Abel (Supernatural), George Young (Containment), Maddie Hasson (Mr. Mercedes), Michole Briana White (Encino Man) and Jacqueline McKenzie (Pine Gap).
The film, whose plot is being kept under wraps, is based on a story co-written by Wan and his fiance Ingrid Bisu, who starred in The Nun and recently got engaged to the 42-year-old Australian director. Wan will also produce the film through his Atomic Monster banner alongside Michael Clear. The film is being financed through Starlight Media and Midas Innovation, who will distribute in China as New Line handles the remaining distribution. Malignant seemingly has no relation to the James Wan penned graphic novel Malignant Man, previously set up as a feature film at Fox, though given the titles it’s not a stretch to imagine a connection.
DC Comics fans don’t have to fret, however, as Wan’s current plan is to move into pre-production on the sequel to last year’s critical and commercial smash Aquaman after production wraps on the horror project.

The film was originally set to premiere on August 14 in theaters, but the studio has elected to substitute it with the highly-anticipated next installment in the DCEU.
