Less than a week after it was announced that Hayao Miyazaki’s latest animated film with Studio Ghibli The Wind Rises would be premiering at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, a first international trailer for the film has surfaced.
A highly respected animation director with many fans in the industry and among movie lovers and a career that spans four decades, Miyazaki won the Oscar for his 2002 Animated Feature Spirited Away, which was followed by 2004’s Howl’s Moving Castle and Ponyo in 2008, and he’s directed a number of shorts in the years in between.
The Wind Rises is a decade-spanning epic is inspired by the true stories of Jiro Horikoshi, visionary designer of the famed Zero fighter and the poet Tatsuo Hori, whose verses are brought to life by the vivid animation of Studio Ghibli.
