Krasinski, who helped with the rewrites on the first installment that he directed and starred in, originally had no interest in working on a sequel, but after finding a small idea for it, he found himself inspired and came up with further planning for the sequel.
“This is a world you can play in, this isn’t just a character to remake…. it’s actually a world, which is a whole different, very unique experience,” Krasinski explained. “It’s not like ‘Alien’ or ‘Jaws’ where the main villain is the thing you’re repeating; it’s an actual entire set of rules and the circumstance that the world has undergone that you can play in very different facets.”

From Paramount Pictures, A Quiet Place opened in theaters on April 6, 2018, and grossed over $334 million worldwide on a $17 million dollar budget. The film was directed by John Krasinski, who starred opposite his real-life wife Emily Blunt. Noah Jupe (Suburbicon, Wonder) and Millicent Simmonds (Wonderstruck) round out the cast.
In the modern horror thriller, a family of four must navigate their lives in silence after mysterious creatures that hunt by sound threaten their survival. If they hear you, they hunt you. The film has minimal dialogue, because silence is survival.
A Quiet Place is produced by Michael Bay (Transformers) and his Platinum Dunes partners Andrew Form and Brad Fuller (Ouija, The Purge, Texas Chainsaw Massacre), from a spec script by Bryan Woods & Scott Beck which was rewritten by Krasinski.
