Disney Channel star Bella Thorne is joining Steve Carell, Jennifer Garner and newcomer Ed Oxenbould in Disney’s adaptation of Judith Viorst’s popular kids book with the long title, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Oxenbould is playing the title character while Thorne, best known as the star of the Disney Channel’s popular show “Shake It Up,” will play the “gooey girlfriend of Alexander’s very cool older brother.” On the show, Thorne plays Cece Jones who along with Zendaya are chasing their dreams to be dancers, although it’s wrapping production after three seasons. Thorne currently has a recording deal with Hollywood Records and will be writing a Young Adult novel.
The film, about a boy having a very bad day who wishes it upon others in his family, is being directed by Miguel Arteta (Youth in Revolt) with the1972 book having been adapted by Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids Are All Right) and Rob Lieber. It’s being produced by 21 Laps and The Jim Henson Company with plans for a release on October 10, 2014.
