Early plans are underway for both a new South Park feature film as well as another franchise entry in the Friday the 13th series. What’s more, it’s all thanks to Christopher Nolan’s upcoming original sci-fi tale Interstellar and a deal made between Paramount and Warner Bros. Pictures. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that studio cooperation on the Nolan film has given Paramount partial rights to both properties for the next five years.
It has been nearly 15 years since the release of Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut with the series that inspired it entering its 17th season this fall.
The Friday the 13th franchise, meanwhile, launched in 1980 and inspired nine direct sequels, a crossover film with the Nightmare on Elm Street franchise, Freddy vs. Jason and, most recently, a reboot from Platinum Dunes.
Interstellar, set to star Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine, will see release on November 7, 2014.
