JoBlo is reporting that The Conjuring 3 will begin filming in Atlanta this June. The outlet notes there are rumors the third installment in the trilogy will be taking on Bill Ramsey, also known as The Southend Werewolf, but that has not been confirmed.
After a lifetime of bizarre events including rage attacks, unexplained moments of superstrength and reports of transforming into a werewolf and assaulting people, Bill Ramsey was visited by the real Ed and Lorraine Warren in the 1980s, who convinced the man to undergo an exorcism, believing he was possessed by a demon. Following an intense exorcism with the Warren’s specialist Bishop Robert McKenna, Ramsey reported in the early ’90s that there have been no further incidents and has been quiet ever since.

Still based on a true story, The Conjuring 3 will reportedly focus on a man on trial for murder who claimed he was possessed. As Wan told the outlet: “I think it’s the first time in America’s history where the defendant used possessions as a reason, as an excuse.”
Wan further discussed how the Conjuring movies are based on Ed and Lorraine’s case files, so “they’re more based on the true story aspect of the real Warrens.” While the spinoffs, such as Annabelle and The Nun, allow the filmmakers to do “weird and wonderful crazy things,” Wan wants to make sure that the “mothership” of The Conjuring universe stays true to the Warrens’ story that inspired the franchise.
Previous reports pointed toward The Conjuring 3 gearing up for a 2019 shoot for a 2020 release with The Conjuring 2 screenwriter David Leslie Johnson returning to write the third film. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga are set to return for the sequel.
Michael Chaves will direct the project with James Wan producing. Chaves directed Wan’s The Curse of La Llorona, releasing in theaters on April 19, 2019, and his comfort with the actors plus his ability to bring emotion on top of understanding the scary elements impressed Wan who felt he was a perfect fit as director.
