According to JoBlo, Syfy is secretly making a Critters movie based on director Stephen Herek’s 1986 sci-fi horror comedy of the same name. The project has reportedly finished its production in South Africa with Bobby Miller (The Cleanse) as the film’s director. Further details about the new Critters movie are still being kept under wraps.
In addition, the original film’s lead actress Dee Wallace (The Hills Have Eyes, E.T.) might also star in the new film due to a recent interview with Bionic Buzz where she hinted about her involvement in the upcoming film. You can watch the full interview in the below.
The original ’86 film concerned a family who face extraterrestrial monsters that lay siege to the family’s farmhouse. Added to the weirdness: These “critters” are on the run from an alien bounty hunter team. Stephen Herek directed the film which starred Dee Wallace, Scott Grimes, Billy Zane and M. Emmet Walsh.
