Robert Redford to Headline The Old Man and the Gun

Writer/director David Lowery, whose thriller Ain’t Them Bodies Saints opens later this year, is making plans to team with Robert Redford for his next project. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Lowery will write and helm The Old Man and the Gun with Redford in the lead.

Based on a 2003 article by David Grann, the film follows the true life story of a career bank robber who, at age 78, still can’t give up his passion for heists.

Redford’s latest, The Company You Keep is in theaters now as the actor prepares for a role in Marvel Studios’ now-filming Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

The Old Man and the Gun will be produced by Redford, Bill Holderman and Conde Nast.
