What would James Bond be without his Bond Girls?–or Bond Women if we want to be modern and current.
The 23rd James Bond movie Skyfall has three wonderful women facing off with Daniel Craig, beginning with Dame Judi Dench as M, the head of Britain’s covert operations agency MI6, returning to the role for the seventh time since her introduction in GoldenEye.
She’s joined by Naomie Harris, an actress who first made waves in Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later before playing a key role in Disney’s “Pirates of the Carribean” and others, playing an MI6 field agent named Eve.
The new name and face introduced in Skyfall is the gorgeous Bérénice Marlohe, a French-Cambodian model and actress who plays the mysterious Sévérine, who may be able to help Bond find the man responsible for MI6’s latest problems or she may be leading him to his doom.
ComingSoon.net had a chance to speak to all three actresses a few weeks back at the New York junket for Skyfall, and in the video interview below, we asked Dame Judi about the greater challenges brought to her role as M in Skyfall, and we ask Harris why she wanted to take on the role of Eve and be added to the legacy of being a Bond Girl, having already made quite a career for herself. We ask Bérénice about her character’s first meeting with Daniel Craig’s Bond in the casino (part of which you can see in the clip that precedes the interviews).
Dame Judi talks about one of her scenes with Javier Bardem’s Silva and Naomie talks about an intimate scene Eve has with Daniel Craig where she shaves him with a straight razor and after making the two lovely ladies laugh (which made our day!), we asked about whether they had any chance to interact while on set.
Lastly, Dame Judi talks about how the MI6 mission goes wrong as the film opens and how that parallels what is going on in our world today in terms of what our government covers up.
