By this point, it’s become fairly obvious to us that not everyone loved the campy special FX charm of Stephen Sommers’ 2009 movie G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra, and Joe fans in particular weren’t that happy with it, but the more and more we learn about director Jon Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the more we think it’s going to be more in line with what fans are expecting from a G.I. Joe movie.
A few weeks back, ComingSoon.net/SuperHeroHype was in Las Vegas for the annual exhibitors convention CinemaCon, and Paramount Pictures invited us to see some footage (you can read about that here) and to talk more with Chu, Dwayne Johnson aka Roadblock, Adrianne Palicki (Lady Jaye) and D.J. Cotrona (Flint).
In the video interviews below, you can hear from them about how excited they have been the more stuff they’re able to see (or show) from the movie. Johnson talks about Roadblock’s earlier connection to Snake Eyes as hinted by the comic book prequels, whch may show up in future movies, and Chu talks about RZA as Blind Master and how the movie elaborates on the history between Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes, plus all three actors talk about working with Jon Chu as a director.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation opens nationwide on June 29.
