CS Video: How Paddington Made His First Visit to the Big Screen

Already a decided hit in the UK, Paddington hits theaters domestically this Friday, January 16 with a delightfully family-friendly take on Michael Bond’s long-running series of children’s books.

Ben Whishaw (SkyfallI’m Not There, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer) lends his voice to Paddington, a young bear from deepest, darkest Peru who travels to London in search of a home. It’s at Paddington station that he finds a family in the Browns, who agree to look after the bear until he can make other plans. The trouble is, even if the Browns survive Paddington’s streak of well-intended disasters, they still have to contend with Millicent (Nicole Kidman), a museum taxidermist who wants nothing more than to see Paddington stuffed!

Creating a family adventure that can elicit laughs from audience members of all ages is no easy task, which is why it’s doubly impressive that Paddington is director Paul King’s first major production (in addition to his work on “The Mighty Boosh,” King also helmed the ultra low-budget feature Bunny and the Bull in 2009). ComingSoon.net sat down with King, producer David Heyman and star Sally Hawkins to talk about their already well-received feature film. Find out what they have to say in the player below!

Also starring Hugh Bonneville (“Downton Abbey,” The Monuments Men), Jim Broadbent (Cloud Atlas, Filth), Peter Capaldi (In the Loop, “Doctor Who”), Matt Lucas (Alice in Wonderland, Bridesmaids) and many more, Paddington arrives in theaters on Friday, January 16.
