K-pop star Golden Child’s Lee Jang-Jun fought one of the fiercest participants of Physical: 100, Hong Beom Seok, in season 2. The battle between the two contestants seemed a bit unfair, as many thought Beom Seok chose an ‘easy’ opponent—meanwhile, Lee Jang-Jun’s competitive spirit, even while battling against a heavy-weight opponent, impressed fans.
Before the much-anticipated fight, Lee Jang-Jun explained to viewers that K-pop idols are not ‘weak.’ The idols’ strenuous dance routines prove that they do not lack stamina in any way. The singer also revealed that his strength training background started at age six. Jang-Jun started Taekwondo and continued for a decade, winning several medals and certificates.
Physical: 100 season 2: Golden Child’s Lee Jang-Jun eliminated
The second season of Netflix’s Physical: 100 is revealed to be more intense than its predecessor. The first quest of season 2 saw several popular contestants eliminated, including Golden Child’s Lee Jang-Jun.
Hong Beom Seok, a participant who earlier appeared in Physical: 100 season 1, chose the 27-year-old Golden Child icon in the first quest. Lee Jang-Jun did not expect to fight a heavyweight star so early in the competition but welcomed the challenge, vowing to prove himself.
The first mission was intense, as Beom Seok agreed that he had underestimated Lee Jang-Jun’s stamina. The K-pop star matched Beom Seok’s energy and created a strong defense, not letting Beom Seok pass with the ball.
At some point, it seemed like Jang Jun could defeat Beom Seok as he toppled him over. But the latter kept the ball in his arms until the timer went off, and Jang Jun lost the quest.
Jang-Jun did not seem demotivated at his loss. The singer shared, “I gave everything I had. It’s been a while since my debut that I felt that desperate.” Others agreed, “the fight was neck to neck.” After getting eliminated in season 1, Hong Beom-Seok justified his reputation by winning the quest.
