Comprising of Jin, Suga aka Agust D, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook, the K-pop boy band BTS has been ruling the music industry for over ten years. Starting from humble beginnings, the seven members are now dominating the world with their electrifying music, unique styles, and captivating personalities.
Since the announcement of their temporary hiatus due to mandatory military enlistment, they have been exploring their solo careers with the promise of coming back as a whole group in 2025. ‘Standing Next to You’ – Jungkook
“Standing Next to You” by BTS’ Jungkook is the title track in his solo debut album, GOLDEN, and has become one of the biggest global hit songs of 2023. It is the fourth track in the album, which was released on November 3, 2023. The song showcases Jungkook’s powerful vocals and incredible dance moves in the music video.
The song received two first-place awards at M Countdown. It also won three consecutive Melon Popularity awards.
‘Love Me Again’ – V
“Love Me Again” is a single from V’s solo debut album, Layover. It is undoubtedly one of the most popular K-pop solo songs of 2023. BIGHIT MUSIC released the R&B track on August 10, 2023. The song beautifully captures V’s deep and soulful voice, unique style, and stunning visuals in the music video.
It won three trophies at M Countdown, along with three Melon Popularity Awards. The song also received nominations for Song of the Year and Best Vocal Performance – Solo at the 2023 MAMA Awards.
‘Set Me Free Pt. 2’ – Jimin
BTS member Jimin’s “Set Me Free Pt. 2” is the lead single track from his debut studio solo album, Face. The song was released on March 17, 2023, by BTS’ agency, BIGHIT MUSIC, and went on to become a global hit. It is a pop and hip-hop track that brilliantly shows Jimin’s sharp vocals and amazing dancing skills in the official music video.
“Set Me Free Pt. 2” won several prestigious awards, including a Melon Popularity Award and a M Countdown award. The song landed at No. 8 on the Global 200 list of Billboard and No. 1 on Billboard’s US World Digital Song sales chart.
‘Wild Flower’ – RM
“Wild Flower” is the title track of BTS leader RM’s solo debut studio album, Indigo. The song is a collaboration with South Korean rock singer Youjeen. Notably, Indigo was certified as a double platinum album. It sold more than 800,000 copies in South Korea as of July 2023 and more than 100,000 copies in the United States.
Moreover, “Wild Flower” is RM’s first single to top the Billboard Digital Song Sales chart. The song perfectly encapsulates RM’s poetic abilities and captivating rapping style.
‘The Astronaut’ – Jin
BTS’ Jin’s “The Astronaut” is his solo debut single track. He and Coldplay reportedly co-wrote the track. The song debuted on October 28, 2022, and became an instant hit due to Jin’s alluring voice, perfectly executed high notes, and heartwarming music video. The song took the No. 68 spot on Rolling Stone’s 100 Best Songs of 2022.
“The Astronaut” went on to win an M Countdown trophy and was nominated for a weekly Melon Popularity Award for an entire month. It was also nominated for the 2023 Fact Music Awards and the 12th Circle Chart Music Awards.
‘Haegeum’ – Agust D
“Haegeum” is a single track by BTS member Agust D, aka Suga. BIGHIT MUSIC released the song on April 21, 2023. The hip-hop song is produced and written by the BTS member, capturing the feelings of liberation and freedom. It is a part of Agust D’s debut solo studio album, D-Day.
Notably, “Haegeum” earned a No.1 spot on the US World Digital Song sales list of Billboard. It also took the No. 15 spot on Billboard’s Global 200 chart. The official music video of the song was highly praised by both fans and critics for its cinematic and exhilarating visuals.
‘Arson’ – J-Hope
BTS member J-Hope’s single track “Arson” is another K-pop song that became a huge hit both domestically and globally. The track is a part of J-Hope’s solo studio album, Jack in the Box. It was released on July 15, 2022. Critics often describe the song as a powerful old-school hip-hop track with features of R&B and grunge.
“Arson” landed on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart, becoming his third single to achieve this milestone. The song perfectly matches J-Hope’s idol persona and charismatic personality.
