Connection K-drama star Ji-Sung faced a health scare while filming
On May 24, 2024, the production presentation of Connection was held at SBS Hall in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul. There, Ji Sung opened up how he prepared for his drug-addicted character. He said, as reported in Sports Seoul, “It was difficult to predict before filming. While filming, I felt that I was more mature and had a different energy. You will be able to see it on the screen.” He further explained how he almost faced a health scare while filming as he lost a few kgs to shoot this drama. He said, “I gained up to 85kg while raising children. I lost 15kg and started filming at 70kg.”
Ji Sung further continued, “Although I lost a lot of stamina and suffered severe aftereffects, I tried to sublimate it through acting. As I was acting, I had to do another act. I was mind-controlled. He added, “I acted out the confusing battle between me trying to overcome drugs and me trying to enjoy my drug addiction. I tried to breathe in rather than out. At times, I hyperventilated and felt like I was going to collapse for a moment, but no one noticed.”
Ji Sung then explained that he then decided to act slowly. He said, “It was dangerous to act while using my body like this, so I thought, ‘Let’s do it in moderation.’” You can watch Connection on SBS.
