Actor Lee Cheol-Woo plays the role of a swimmer, Hyung-Gu, in the hit TVN K-drama Lovely Runner. He has recently come under serious scrutiny due to the allegation of his involvement in the 2019 Burning Sun group chat and scandal. However, the actor has firmly refuted the allegations against him.
On Monday, May 20, 2024, the actor takes to his official Instagram to release a statement, claiming his innocence in the matter. He says, “I would like to reiterate that I was not included in the conversation room, as I expressed my position through the company at the time.”

Recently, in light of the BBC documentary Burning Sun: Exposing the secret K-pop chat groups, the infamous 2019 South Korean scandal has again come to the surface. As mentioned above, Lovely Runner actor Lee Cheol-Woo has come under fire due to the allegation of his connection with the Burning Sun group chat and scandal. However, he has clearly denied all the allegations.
The actor has maintained his innocence in the infamous scandal by releasing a statement through his official Instagram account. He has released the statement on Sunday, May 20, 2024, on Instagram. In the statement, he further says that the chatroom that he is referring to is a ‘program conversation room’.
According to him, it was created to share information, including schedule details and more, for a JTBC entertainment show, Hitmaker. He further stressed that no personal information was shared in that chatroom, which was later deleted.
Lee Cheol-Woo continues, “Not only myself but my family and acquaintances are suffering from false truths and evils that have been going on for years. We kindly ask you to refrain from indiscriminate oppression and speculation,”.
The actor ends his statement by saying that he will respond to spiteful comments and false facts.
