Popular K-drama Queen of Tears has added another feather to its cap. The series, starring Kim Soo-Hyun and Kim Ji-Won in lead roles, earned first place in tvN’s K-drama history, with the highest domestic viewership ratings. According to Nielsen Korea’s report, the drama recorded a rating of over 23% (based on households in the Seoul metropolitan area), the highest ever for the network.
Queen of Tears surpassed two other popular K-dramas, including Crash Landing on You (22.6%) and Guardian: The Lonely and Great God (21.5%) in domestic ratings. The K-drama saw the highest viewership after its most recent episode on Sunday, April 14, 2024. The K-drama airs every Saturday and Sunday at 9:20 p.m. KST on tvN. It is also available for viewers worldwide on Netflix.
Queen of Tears Surpasses Crash Landing on You to become tvN’s most-watched K-drama
On Monday, April 15, 2024, tvN announced on its social media channels that the network’s ongoing and extremely popular K-drama Queen of Tears received the highest ratings of 23.072% (Seoul metropolitan area/households). It became the drama with the highest domestic viewership ratings, surpassing the network’s two most popular dramas, Crash Landing on You and Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.
According to the network, Crash Landing on You ranks the second-highest with 22.677% viewership ratings. Guardian: The Lonely and Great God stands third with 21.575% ratings. Meanwhile, these ratings only pertain to households in the Seoul metropolitan area on Sunday, April 14, 2024.
Earlier, it was reported that Queen of Tears dethroned Guardian: The Lonely and Great God to become the second-highest-rated drama nationwide in tvN’s history. After the most recent episode 12, Queen of Tears recorded an average nationwide rating of 20.7%. Furthermore, this marks the drama’s highest nationwide ratings up until now, surpassing the 20% mark for the first time.
Queen of Tears follows the tumultuous love story of chaebol heiress Hong Hae-In (Kim Ji-Won) and her husband Baek Hyun-Woo (Kim Soo-Hyun). The couple navigates their marital crisis and gradually falls in love again.
Meanwhile, Queen of Tears Episodes 13 and 14 will air on Saturday, April 20, and Sunday, April 21, 2024, at 9:20 p.m. KST on tvN and later on Netflix.
