Popular K-drama Signal is returning for Season 2. On Thursday, March 14, 2024, writer Kim Eun-Hee’s agency officially announced the news to local outlets, saying (originally in Korean), “Writer Kim Eun-Hee is currently preparing the script for Season 2 of Signal.” The series follows a group of police detectives who use a radio to solve cases. The walkie-talkie radio uses broadcasts from the past, through which these detectives dig into unsolved cases.
Signal boasted a stellar cast, including Lee Je-Hoon, Kim Hye-Soo, and Cho Jin-Woong, who play the lead roles. The series became significantly popular among viewers, and fans eagerly await the second season, which just confirmed production.
Signal K-drama returns for Season 2
The hit tvN K-drama Signal is getting a sequel. The hit series is officially in production, as confirmed by writer Kim Eun-Hee and B.A. Entertainment CEO Jang Won-Seok. While attending an event in Rome, the duo discussed the emergence of Korean content. During the event, Jang Won-Seok said (originally in Korean), “We are preparing Season 2 of the drama Signal together with writer Kim Eun-Hee.”
Previously, writer Kim Eun-Hee had indicated a second season for Signal. While promoting the 2021 Netflix drama Kingdom: Ashin of the North, she revealed that there were many storylines left to explore after Signal Season 1. Kim Eun-Hee further said, “I also have the desire and will to make Signal Season 2 in some way. No matter what, I want to show it to you before I retire.”
The first season of Signal aired in 2016 and became extremely popular among viewers for its gripping storyline and detailed character descriptions. It recorded a peak viewership rating of 12.5%. As of now, only production for Signal Season 2 is confirmed. There has been no confirmation on the cast lineup. It is still unclear whether the original cast will make their appearance in the second season as well.
