The Impossible Heir episode 5: Lee Jae-Wook & Lee Jun-Young face their first obstacle
The latest episode 5 of The Impossible Heir began with Han Tae-Oh executing a perfect plan in the wake of Kang Oh Group’s recent scandal. The previous episode ended with Chairman Kang Joong-Mo making an official appearance in a wheelchair, accompanied by his third son, Kang In-Ha. Prosecutor Ha Myeong-Jin investigated the scandal involving Kang Oh Securities’ shares. Tae-Oh found dirt against the latter, removed the prosecutor from the position, and saved the chairman. However, he made it seem like it was In-Ha’s move.
After the incident subsided, In-Ha was promoted to the Division Director of the Future Strategy office. This enraged both his stepbrothers, Kang Seung-Ju and Kang In-Ju. While Kang Seung-Ju apologized to the chairman for the scandal, Joong-Mo sent his wife, Jang Geum-Suk, to a villa. Meanwhile, In-Ju discovered that In-Ha and Tae-Oh were friends from high school.
Later, Joong-Mo called Tae-Oh to provide a crucial update. He put In-Ha in charge of negotiations for Kang Oh Tech One sales. The chairman decided to sell the tech branch as China’s IM’s attempt to leak technology last year still bothered him. Joong-Mo thought abandoning the company and getting rid of this weakness was the right move. He wanted nothing to disrupt the building of the Center. Moreover, the chairman wanted money to fund the construction.
While Tae-Oh asked his spy to stay undercover until the negotiations, In-Ha proposed to Na Hye-Won. He also informed Tae-Oh of his proposal, and the latter congratulated him half-heartedly. The following day, Tae-Oh warned In-Ha not to make a mistake, while Ko Hui-Chan tried to convince Kang Hee-Joo to marry him. However, she rejected him once again over her feelings for Tae-Oh.
In-Ha brought in his trusted allies to help with the negotiations. Meanwhile, the campaign chief asked Hye-Won to become a political aide. At night, she met with Tae-Oh, informing him of her conversation with the chief. Tae-Oh congratulated her on the proposal, but their feelings for each other only amounted to more heartbreak. However, Kang Seung-Ju’s assistant caught the two on camera and sent the pictures to his boss.
The following day, Tae-Oh and In-Ha discovered that Ko Hui-Chan would be handling negotiations with the buying company Daejong. Although this unprecedented update made In-Ha nervous, Tae-Oh assured him he would focus on getting the deal through. During their session, Tae-Oh observed that one of In-Ha’s allies was checking his messages. He then asked the ally to leave. It turned out that In-Ha used his ally to play a trick.
In-Ha wanted to return to when IM wanted to use Kang Oh Tech One’s technology. He promoted IM to collaborate with tech company Eugen and, in return, had IM leak false information to Daejong. Moreover, Eugen would keep quiet about the tech leak. Although they made the deal happen with a price increase, In-Ha’s trick landed him and Tae-Oh on the chairman’s bad side. He slammed his son for using a dirty trick and blamed Tae-Oh for it.
By the end of the episode, Tae-Oh joined In-Ha for a game of basketball, asking the latter to visit the chairman. While In-Ha was gone, Tae-Oh was attacked by a mysterious man.
