The much-awaited Disney Plus K-drama, Soundtrack #2, aired its premiere episode on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, at 5 p.m. KST. The series follows the story of ex-lovers Do Hyun-Seo (Keum Sae-Rok) and Ji Soo-ho (Steve Noh), who reunite due to unexpected circumstances. The drama is the second installment and follows the popular Soundtrack #1, starring Park Hyung-Sik and Han So-Hee.
Episode 1 of Soundtrack #2 documents Hyun-Seo and Soo-Ho’s first meeting after their breakup four years ago. The premiere episode also gives a sneak peek of what led to their breakup, and them eventually leading completely different lives. As the two get together for their own selfish reasons, they still have lingering feelings towards one another.
Keum Sae-Rok & Steve Noh meet unexpectedly in Soundtrack #2 Episode 1
The premiere episode of Soundtrack #2 showcases a glimpse of both Hyun-Seo and Soo-Ho’s lives. The former owns a small piano academy and teaches kids while dreaming of opening her own restaurant. While feeding kids and managing them is a task, Hyun-Seo is determined to make it work. She meets a former fellow student from her music academy while working as a part-time delivery person. Hyun-Seo recalls how she’d won the grand prize in piano.
Meanwhile, Soo-Ho is the CEO of his own content creation company. One day, he faints due to overwork, causing tinnitus in his ears. His friend, Chang-Sik, takes him to a psychiatrist, where the doctor advises him to rest for some time and learn a light-sounding instrument. On the way back, Soo-Ho mistakenly utters the word piano when asked which instrument he’d like to learn. Chang-Sik takes the necessary measures to get a piano to Soo-Ho’s house.
As fate would have it, Hyun-Seo’s academy friend connects her to Chang-Sik. The latter hires her as a piano instructor, warning her that Soo-Ho can be sensitive at times. Hyun-Seo even accepts an advance payment because of this, all while being unaware that her student is none other than her ex-boyfriend. The following day, she goes to Soo-Ho’s house.
Soundtrack #2 Episode 1 also gives a glimpse into the former couple’s breakout. While Soo-Ho was waiting for her at the airport to accompany him on a trip, she called to break up with him. Hyun-Seo confesses how it has been difficult for him to see her happy and eventually couldn’t see a future. Soo-Ho is heartbroken for the longest time.
The scene shifts to the present when they find each other at Soo-Ho’s house. After realizing the situation, the duo initially aren’t ready to work together. However, both of them eventually come around for their own reasons. Hyun-Seo needs the money, while Soo-Ho wants to learn piano and see her struggle to get closure. Viewers will have to wait and see what their collaboration comes to.
