Best Korean Drama October 2023: Doona!, My Dearest & More K-Dramas

October 2023 saw a wide variety of Korean dramas gracing TV screens and multiple streaming platforms. The K-dramas enthralled viewers with romance, action, thriller and comedy, keeping viewers hooked to their seats. Creators explored many storylines, including history, time travel, and relatable plotlines, and fans chose to binge-watch their favorites.

Some of the most successful dramas include Doona!, Strong Girl Namsoon, My Dearest, The Matchmakers, and many more. Although it’s almost the end of the month, there are still some K-dramas waiting to attract fans with interesting stories. To make matters easier, we have jotted down some series to choose from for October 2023.

Doona!

Doona!, starring Bae Suzy and Yang Se-Jong, released on October 20, 2023, and aired a total of nine episodes. All episodes dropped on the same day, making it the perfect binge-watch. The series follows the story of retired K-pop idol Lee Doona (Bae Suzy) and a university fellow student Lee Won-Jun (Yang Se-Jong). Doona! documents how two individuals from completely different universes fall in love.

My Dearest Part 2

Starring Namkoong Min and Ahn Eun-Jin, MBC drama My Dearest Part 2 released on Saturday, October 14, 2023, on the network as well as Viki. The historical romance drama documents the love story of Lee Jang-Hyun (Namkoong Min) and Yoo Gil-Chae (Yoo Gil-Chae). While Jang-Hyun vows to never marry, Gil-Chae still believes in love after two failed marriages. Four episodes of My Dearest Part 2 have already released, with new episodes releasing Friday and Saturday.

Strong Girl Namsoon

JTBC drama Strong Girl Namsoon, starring Lee Yoo-Mi and Ong Seung-Wu, premiered on October 7, 2023, on the network and Netflix. The story is a spin-off of the iconic 2017 drama Strong Woman Do Bong Soon and follows three generations of women investigating drug related crimes in Gangnam. Six episodes of the K-drama have already aired, with new episodes coming every Saturday and Sunday.

Castaway Diva

With Park Eun-Bin in the lead role, tvN drama Castaway Diva is all set to air on Saturday, October 28, 2023, on the network as well as Netflix. The series follows the story of an aspiring singer, Seo Mok-Ha (Park Eun-Bin), stranded on a deserted island for 15 years and finally being rescued. She eventually adapts to normalcy and make her dreams come true.

The Third Marriage

MBC drama The Third Marriage, starring Oh Seung-Ah and Baek Sang-Chul, aired on the network on Monday, October 23, 2023, on the network and Viki. The series documents the journey of two women, one who lives a fake life and another who tries to uncover the lies. Oh Seung-Ah plays Jung Da-Jung, a woman who dreams of a happily married life with her husband, Mun Ji-Hu (Sang-Chul), until her best friend betrays her.

The Matchmakers

With Rowoon and Cho Yi-Hyun in leading roles, KBS drama The Matchmakers is all set to air on Monday, October 30, 2023. The former plays the young widower Shim Jung-Woo, while Cho Yi-Hyun essays the role of widow Jung Soon-Deok. The series follows the story of these two individuals struggling to work together to marry single men and women in the Joseon Era. It documents the journey of the two finding their way to love each other.

A Good Day to Be a Dog

MBC drama A Good Day to Be a Dog, starring Cha Eun-Woo and Park Gyu-Young, aired on October 11, 2023, on the network and Viki. The series follows the story of Han Hae-Na (Park Gyu-Young) and her curse of turning into a dog after kissing a man. Her colleague Jin Seo-Won (Cha Eun-Woo) has the ability to undo her curse. However, he is afraid of dogs due to past trauma. Three episodes have already aired, with new episodes releasing every Wednesday.
