Netflix’s Destined With You and Amazon Prime Video’s The Kidnapping Day have hit an all-time high in terms of its viewership. It doesn’t come as a surprise, considering the two Korean dramas star many popular cast members and also have interesting storylines.
According to Nielsen Korea and reported by Soompi, the latest episode of Destined With You, which released on October 5, 2023, scored an average nationwide rating of 3.1. This marks a well-deserved personal feat for the fantasy romance drama. Meanwhile, The Kidnapping Day, which also released on the same day, scored 4.0, an all-time high for the thriller series.
The recent episode of Destined With You sees Hong-jo discovering who cursed him
Starring Rowoon and Jo Bo-ah, Destined With You premiered on August 23, 2023, on JTBC and is streaming on Netflix. The story revolves around a lawyer bound by a centuries-old curse. During the course of the story, he comes into contact with a civil servant over the case of an ominous temple. The duo form a bond deeper than love – involving spells, curses, and an unexpected past life connection.
In the recent episodes, it was revealed that Lee Hong-jo (Jong Bo-ah) was the one to curse Jang Shin-yu (Rowoon) in their previous life. The latest episode saw Hong-jo admitting Shin-yu in the hospital after the latter gets stabbed. However, in a state of trance, he gets a glimpse of his past life and understands what happened between him and Hong-jo.
Destined With You is directed by Nam Ki-hoon and written by No Ji-Sul. The K-drama has two more episodes left to premiere, which will be released on October 11 and 12.
Officer Sang-yun makes a shocking discovery in The Kidnapping Day Episode 7
The Kidnapping Day released on September 23, 2023, on ENA and is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The story revolves around Kim Myeong-jun (Yoon Kye-sang), who kidnaps a girl named Ro-hee (Yu Na) in exchange for ransom. It is soon revealed that he comitted the crime since he is unable to afford his daughter’s medical bills. However, he realizes that the girl he kidnapped has lost all her memory and her parents are dead.
The latest episode saw the characters uncover several secrets while Myeong-jun and Ro-hee try to escape Choi Tae-jin’s villa. Sang-yun (Park Sung-hoon), the police offer in charge of the kidnapping case, makes a new discovery that leads him close to a breakthrough.
Written by Kim Je-young, The Kidnapping Day is directed by Park Yoo-young. This K-drama has released seven episodes so far, with the next episode coming out on October 11.
