Additionally, the action sequences and costume designs have prompted similarities to Mad Max: Fury Road.
Kalki 2898 AD trailer plagiarism claims explored
Kalki 2898 AD, produced on a hefty budget, showcases impressive visual effects in its recently released trailer. However, the film has come under scrutiny following accusations from South Korean concept illustrator Sung Choi. The artist claimed that the makers had plagiarized artwork he created ten years ago and shared a collage on his Instagram, comparing stills from the trailer with his past work. He expressed his discontent, stating, “Unauthorized use of the artwork is a bad practice. This makes me question doing art in this lawless environment. @Kalki2898AD @VyjayanthiFilms #kalki2898ad.”
For those unaware, Sung Choi is a renowned concept illustrator who has collaborated with Marvel, Disney, and Warner Bros. However, his accusation has sparked a debate among netizens, with some supporting the artist and others defending Kalki 2898 AD’s production house.
One supporter of the filmmakers commented, “Yes, copying is wrong. I am sure the movie team will talk to you about this mistake, and it is not in the movie; it is just the first part of the video that introduces the production house.” Conversely, a supporter of the artist advised, “Please sue them, I have read on Google that they sued a VFX company for leaking the look of Prabhas (actor). If they can sue, you also do it.”
As of now, the makers of Kalki 2898 AD have not responded to these allegations. It remains to be seen how they will address this issue. Stay tuned for further updates on this controversy.
