Mr & Mrs Mahi Janhvi Kapoor Reveals ‘Paranoia’ of Losing Her Parents

Bollywood actress Janhvi Kapoor recently opened up about a long-held fear that has haunted her since childhood. She was recently seen at The Ranveer Show as a part of promotions for her upcoming film. The actress revealed a deep-seated paranoia of losing her parents, actress Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor. This revelation has resonated deeply with fans and followers. It has also shed light on the personal struggles behind the star’s glamorous public persona.

‘I always had a paranoia of losing my parents’: Janhvi Kapoor

“It’s so funny that I always had a paranoia of losing my parents, even at that time,” Janhvi confessed during the interview. She recounted moments from her childhood when her anxiety would spike, mainly when her parents were away at events or traveling. “Every time they’d go late at night for an event or travel for more than a day without me… Small things like they’re shopping at duty-free (stores at the airport) and I’m left with the nanny, I was always like, ‘I don’t know if they’re going to make the flight, I don’t know if they’re going to come back home. Sometimes, I’d go into their room and check if they’re there. It’s so weird. There was this weird paranoia.”

When asked if these fears still linger, Janhvi responded thoughtfully, “I don’t know. Maybe. I don’t think I’m anxiously attached to anyone right now. But yeah, there was a very significant paranoia. Which is ironic.” She also emphasized the often-overlooked topic of caring for aging parents. She noted how her perspective has shifted as she now feels like the adult in her relationship with her father, Boney Kapoor. “I see my father as a kid. I’m borderline obsessed with him.”

Janhvi’s reflections come as she continues to make her mark in the film industry, following in her mother’s iconic footsteps. Born in 1997, she faced the loss of her mother in 2018, just days before her debut film, Dhadak, was set to release. The tragedy has profoundly influenced her career and personal life, as she seeks validation from audiences and critics in the absence of her mother’s guidance.

Janhvi’s upcoming film Mr. & Mrs. Mahi is all set to release on May 31st. It is a sports drama co-starring Rajkummar Rao and directed by Sharan Sharma.
