Excitement is brewing as Santhanam’s action-comedy film, Inga Naan Thaan Kingu, is set to hit theaters soon. Santhanam, renowned for his comedic scenes, was recently featured in Karthik Yogi’s directional venture, Vadakkupatti Ramasamy. This film garnered mostly positive reviews and is currently streaming on Prime Video. With the success of his previous projects, expectations are soaring for Inga Naan Thaan Kingu.
Inga Naan Thaan Kingu release date, plot, certificate & more
Inga Naan Thaan Kingu, which translates to “I am the only king here,” was initially scheduled to premiere on May 10, 2024. However, the makers recently announced its postponement, rescheduling its release to May 17. Directed by Anand Narayan, the film has been produced by Sushmita Anbuchezhian and G.N. Anbuchezhian under the banner of Gopuram Films.
The film features Santhanam as Vetrivel, Priyalaya as Thenmozhi (Vetrivel’s wife), and Thambi Ramaiah as Vijaykumar in pivotal roles. The supporting cast members include Vivek Prasanna, Bala Saravanan, Munishkanth, Attul, and Cool Suresh. On the technical front, Om Narayan handled the cinematography, D. Imman composed the music, and M. Thiyagarajan edited the film.
The film revolves around Vetri (Santhanam), a man employed in a matrimonial office who takes out a hefty loan to purchase an apartment. He then sets out to find a girl from a wealthy family to marry, hoping to obtain a substantial dowry to repay the loan. Destiny intervenes when he receives a proposal from a wealthy Zamindar family, albeit with three conditions attached.
With a runtime of 2 hours and 12 minutes, the film has received a U certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification. Speaking of digital availability, makers have not yet announced its streaming rights. As per trends in South Indian cinema, the film is expected to be available for streaming after 45-60 days of its theatrical release.
Director Anand Narayan’s views on his upcoming film
The makers recently organized a pre-release event where the team of Inga Naan Thaan Kingu took the stage to express their excitement. Director Anand thanked everyone who has supported the film thus far.
Anand said, “My heartiest thanks to each and everyone who have been extending their support for this film till now. I approached Anbu sir after getting to know that he has been listening to scripts for producing. I got to meet him through Senthil sir. They immediately agreed to rope me in as the director for this project. They gave me complete freedom and time. After watching the talkie portion of this film, they called me personally and appreciated me.”
Anand also expressed his eagerness to work with Santhanam and reminisced about their first meeting during the shoot of the film, India Pakistan. He highlighted the joy of finally collaborating with Santhanam for this project and praised the actor for his support and involvement in enhancing the scenes during the shoot.
Anand also commended music director Imman for his contribution to the film. He mentioned a particularly emotional scene with a brilliant juxtaposition of Santhanam’s performance and Imman’s background score.
Inga Naan Thaan Kingu is currently running at nearby theatres.
