Election release date, plot, certificate & more

Amidst election time, Vijay Kumar’s Election will hit theaters on May 17, 2024. The film revolves around an intense election battle for the post of counselor. To add excitement, the makers recently dropped a two-minute trailer. It offers a glimpse of the election battle between the political leader’s son and the party member’s son. The trailer opens with a quote by Abraham Lincoln, “The ballot is stronger than the bullet,” sets the stage for an intense political showdown.

The film synopsis on IMDb reads, “Nadarasan, uninterested in politics, runs for panchayat leader to honor his father. As he delves into the murky world of election politics, he faces violence, rivalry, and betrayals.” The film stars Vijay Kumar, with a supporting cast that includes Preethi Asrani, Dileepan, Pavel Navageethan, and Nachiyal Suganthi.

Additionally, Adithya has produced Election on a budget of approximately $718,000 under the Reel Good Films banner. Uriyadi Actor Vijay’s views on his upcoming film

Actor Vijay Kumar made his theatrical debut with a political thriller, Uriyadi, released in 2016. After receiving a great response from the audience, the sequel to Uriyadi was released in April 2019.

In a recent interview, Vijay discussed his next project being another political drama. He said, “Doing another similar political film was not something I was planning on doing, but this story was different. I think it’s because some believe it might court controversies. Just like how romance and horror are genres, I feel politics should be a genre on its own. Even if we don’t preach messages, just having it as the backdrop on which the film gets mounted results in so much that can be conveyed.”

Vijay further elaborated on the challenges of making such political movies without offending anyone. He said, “Someone is bound to get hurt with such a film. That’s why balancing the content becomes paramount. With the right political acumen, we can make sure the damage is minimal (laughs). More than the script, we had to be aware of contemporary politics while sketching such a story.”

While talking about the party’s name and symbol, Vijay added, “Almost all the names we came up with for the fictional party were already registered. And it was difficult to find a color for the party flag that didn’t resemble any actual ones. We had to convey what we wanted to without sounding preachy; it shouldn’t be controversial, but also be commercially successful.”

As of now, anticipation is at its peak. It will be intriguing to see how the audience reacts after watching it on the big screens.
