Director Santhakumar’s views on his upcoming film

Director Santhakumar, known for his work in Mouna Guru (2011) and Magamuni (2019), is gearing up for his next venture, Rasavathi. In a recent interview with The Hindu, Santhakumar discussed his challenges during the film’s writing and directing process.

While elaborating on the movie’s plot, Santha said, “In Rasavathi, it’s about a doctor. We might have seen them at clinics, but we still needed to research to learn everything about their job. Everything from his economic status to why he’s put up at Kodaikanal must be established. Even if these aspects aren’t covered in the film, as a writer, I’m supposed to know this. This R&D gives structure to the film and helps make it more gripping.”

Reflecting on his writing approach, Santhakumar drew parallels between hiking and trekking. Further, he compared his writing process to trekking, emphasizing the need to carve out one’s path in storytelling.

Meanwhile, lead actor Arjun Das shared insights into his role and preparations for the film in a separate interview. He said, “Santhakumar sir wanted me to grow my hair and beard for this role. He wanted a lot of stuttering. There was a certain limp in the film. I can’t reveal much about it, but the character limps. There’s a little bit of homework that we have done on that.”

Additionally, he mentioned that to prepare for his role as a Siddha doctor, he and the team consulted with a real-life Siddha doctor for authenticity. As the film’s release date approaches, all eyes are on its opening day box office performance. Stay tuned for its box office collection.
