‘I had said yes to the first script that came to me’: Aavesham’s Fahadh Faasil on bollywood movies
In a recent interview with Film Companion, Fahadh disclosed that his first opportunity to star in a Hindi film came about five to six years ago. “I had said yes to the first (Hindi) script that came to me,” he said. The project was to be directed by Vishal Bhardwaj, an iconic figure in Bollywood known for his unique storytelling style. Unfortunately, the project did not materialize as planned. “He couldn’t sort of put it in place. Eventually, he had to do it with another actor, and I had moved on by then,” Fahadh explained.
Discussing potential barriers, Fahadh Faasil humorously noted his linguistic challenges, “Also, I understand very little Hindi. So I will have to play a South Indian who speaks Hindi in Kashmir or something.” However, he remains open to the idea of Hindi cinema, hinting at future possibilities, “I am open to it (doing a Hindi film). I have done Telugu films; I have done Tamil films… So, someday I want to do it (a Hindi film too), but I don’t know when.”
In addition to his connections within the Hindi film industry, Fahadh Faasil mentioned his interactions with Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar. “Karan calls me after watching my films and discusses what he likes about the film,” he shared, underscoring the respect and camaraderie he enjoys with his peers across various film industries.
Currently, Fahadh Faasil is busy with some high-profile projects. This includes the sequel to the Telugu hit Pushpa: The Rule alongside Allu Arjun, and the Tamil action film Vettaiyan featuring Rajinikanth.
