Tovino Thomas’ latest police drama, Anweshippin Kandethum, premiered in theaters on February 9, 2024. Directed by Darwin Kuriakose, the film features Tovino as SI Anand Narayanan, leading a talented ensemble cast including Thomas, Siddique, Baburaj, and Sadiq. With its gripping storyline and stellar performances, the movie has garnered widespread attention.
The story unfolds a dedicated second-generation police officer, SI Anand, who is not following the regular protocols like other officers. He was tasked with investigating the case of a missing girl named Lovely from a Christian community. Despite facing pressure from superior officers, Anand remains undeterred in his pursuit of justice.
During the investigation, he suspected two individuals who teased Lovely soon before her disappearance. But, later, Anand discovered they were innocent. However, when the case gained some traction, Anand’s seniors allowed him to do whatever was fair to serve justice.
Tragically, Lovely’s dead body was discovered in a well near the church wrapped in a cloth. The postman identified that the cloth belonged to Sahadevan, so the police started questioning him and found he hadn’t done anything. After this, Anand was officially removed from the case, but he continued his investigation unofficially.
Who Killed Lovely Mathan?
Anand’s strategic plan to obtain evidence in the Lovely murder case proved successful when he staged a burglary at Father Thomas’ house, allowing him to enter under the guise of investigating the theft. With the assistance of the forensics department, crucial evidence was procured from the scene. Soon, Anand figured out that it was not Father Thomas but his nephew who had murdered Lovely.
Deacon Nathaniel Johnson, aka Dany’s motive for the crime stemmed from his affair with Lovely’s sister. When Lovely discovered their relationship, she threatened to expose them before her father.
In the moment of panic, Dany forcefully silenced Lovely, inadvertently causing her death. Subsequently, they disposed of her body to avoid detection by the police. However, Anand submitted the forensic reports to his superior, leading to Dany’s arrest.
Despite Anand’s pivotal role in solving the case, his senior took credit for the achievement. Nevertheless, during Dany’s transfer to court, he managed to escape custody and tragically took his own life. As a consequence, Anand and his team faced suspension. However, their chance for redemption arrived when the DSP offered Anand the opportunity to investigate Sridevi’s murder case.
Anweshippin Kandethum ending: Was Anand able to solve Sridevi’s murder case?
Despite facing initial difficulties from the local community, Anand persisted in his pursuit of justice. During the investigation, he discovered that Sridevi’s pregnancy hinted at a motive behind her murder, leading him to suspect the involvement of a secret lover.
Further investigation revealed that someone from Haryana had corresponded with Sridevi through letters. With the cooperation of Sadanand, a respected theatre artist, they talked to his son, who identified the handwriting as belonging to his close friend, Sudip.
The shocking climax of Anweshippin Kandethum came when Anand uncovered the identity of Sudip’s father: Raveendran Nair, a local cop who had facilitated Anand’s investigation. It was revealed that Nair, driven by caste prejudice and opposition to his son’s relationship with Sridevi, had murdered her and misled the authorities.
Realizing that the truth had surfaced, Nair chose to end his own life out of shame and guilt. Despite his lack of recognition for his efforts, Anand found solace in knowing he had uncovered the truth and upheld justice.
