Kedarnath Ending Explained & Spoilers: How Did Sara Ali Khan’s Movie End?

Director Abhishek Kapoor’s romantic drama, Kedarnath, was released on December 7, 2018. It stars late actor Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead role. Kedarnath also marked the Bollywood debut of actress Sara Ali Khan. The film follows the inter-faith love story between a wealthy Hindu Brahmin girl and a Muslim ‘pithoo’ (porter) in the Uttarakhand mountains near the Kedarnath Temple.

Set in the valley near the Kedarnath Temple in 2013, Mansoor Khan, a local Muslim porter, crosses paths with Mandakini “Mukku” Mishra, the rebellious younger daughter of Hindu priest Brijraj. Mukku, engaged to the nephew of the head priest, indulges in a playful flirtation with local boys out of defiance. However, her encounter with Mansoor unfolds differently as genuine feelings emerge between them during their interactions.

Despite Mukku’s initial teasing, a genuine connection forms between them, culminating in a shared kiss amidst the rain. Their budding romance faces opposition when Mukku’s jealousy-driven sister spreads rumors, leading to tension between Mukku and Mansoor. As conflicts escalate, Mukku finds herself ostracized by her family, leading to a pivotal confrontation with the impending threat of eviction for the Muslim community looming large.

Despite Mukku’s forced marriage to Kullu and her family’s attempts to suppress her feelings for Mansoor, their love persists. When Mansoor bravely returns for her, he faces violent opposition from Kullu and his allies. Despite the risks, Mansoor resolves not to abandon Mukku and their bond. Meanwhile, Mukku, trapped in a marriage she never wanted, contemplates suicide but is rescued by her family. As the impending disaster of floods looms, tensions escalate between Kullu and Mansoor, with the fate of their love hanging in the balance.

Kedarnath ending: Were Mukku and Mansoor able to leave the valley safely?

Amidst the chaos of the floods, Mansoor races to reach Mukku, who is struggling to save her family and guests at their hotel. In a desperate bid to survive, they seek refuge in the temple, where Mansoor ultimately sacrifices himself to save Mukku and her father. As the waters recede, Mukku, grief-stricken by Mansoor’s loss, rebuilds her life with the memory of their love guiding her.

Three years later, Mukku continues to carry Mansoor’s memory in her heart as she manages the lodge with her father. Despite the pain of his absence, she finds solace in the echoes of their love, symbolized by a song that remains a poignant reminder of their time together.
