Bhakshak Ending Explained & Spoilers: How Did Bhumi Pednekar’s Movie End?

Netflix India’s latest investigative drama, Bhakshak, featuring Bhumi Pednekar takes the audience on a gripping journey. The latest movie delves into the dark corners of society where corruption, abuse, and injustice prevail. It centers on the valiant efforts of journalist Vaishali Singh to expose the heinous abuse of young girls in a shelter home.

The movie, also featuring Sanjay Mishra, Aditya Srivastava, and Sai Tamhanka, unfolds with suspense to unveil a harrowing truth.

What happened in Bhumi Pednekar’s latest movie?

The storyline kicks off with Vaishali Singh’s refusal to succumb to the pressures of mainstream media. Opting to create her own channel, Koshish News, she embarks on a mission to expose the abuse racket of young girls in a shelter home. The antagonist, Bansi Sahu, with strong political ties, poses the most prominent hurdle in Vaishali’s pursuit of justice.

Vaishali, joined by Bhaskar, launches an investigation into female shelter homes around Patna. The search aims to trace the fate of girls from the Munawarpur shelter. A former worker, Sudha, who ran away from the shelter revealed all the atrocities committed by Bansi and his associates. Physical and mental abuse, forced intimacy and even the use of red chilli powder to molest came to light.

Despite Vaishali’s relentless efforts in Bhakshak, the police and government bodies remain silent. Even a PIL is filed against the government challenging their inaction. Throughout her journey, Bansi Sahu and his men intimidate Vaishali and the people she knew to make her stop pursuing the case.

However, Bhumi Pednekar’s character constantly updates her audience about the case and reports how her family was being intimidated. Furthermore, how police refuses to file an FIR against the politician.

Soon after an IPS officer SS Jasmeet Gaur, provides a glimmer of hope. She understands the depth of the entire situation, however, she realises it’s a tough battle. Jasmeet stresses the fact that there’s a need for substantial evidence for any legal recourse.

Bhakshak ending: What happened to Bansi Sahu?

Vaishali is ultimately able to pressure the government to file a case against Bansi Sahu. However, it is filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses Act which means it is the Child Welfare Association’s responsibility. But the jurisdiction came under one of the Bansi Sahu’s men, which made Vaishali realize she could only rely on evidence.

In Bhakshak’s ending, Vaishali tries to make Sudha understand how much her testimony could save so many young girls from further abuse. At first, she is reluctant but ultimately agrees. On her Koshish news, Sudha in an anonymous avatar relayed all the atrocities that happened within the shelter home. Furthermore, revealing Bansi Sahu and his associate’s abusive actions so far.

Soon after the girls from the Munawwarpur shelter home are rescued and Bansi Sahu is arrested. In a poignant ending, Vaishali questions the media’s priorities, criticizing the inclination to prioritize entertainment over critical issues. She challenges viewers to reflect on their humanity, emphasizing the importance of addressing uncomfortable truths.

Bhakshak is currently streaming on Netflix.
