Tovino Thomas took up the role of a cop in the movie. The film is set in 1993 against the backdrop of Kerala when CCTV cameras and GPS were not in India. A teenager named Lovely Mathen is found murdered, and the local cops begin an investigation to find the murderer. Thomas’ cop character seemingly reopens an unresolved murder case. The film is allegedly based on a true story and further crafted for some bone-chilling scenes.

Anweshippin Kandethum has been receiving positive reviews from the audience. Therefore, the movie is expected to earn good numbers. However, it seems to be off to a slow start at the box office. As per Sacnilk.com, the movie is expected to earn over $120k net at the Indian box office on Day 1. The movie had 23.71% Malayalam occupancy on its opening day.

Darwin Kuriakose directed the movie, while Yoodlee Films and Theatre Of Dreams bankrolled it.

Tovino Thomas was elated to play a cop in the movie. Per Indian Express, while promoting the film, he shared his excitement about the project and said, “I was fortunate enough to play a cop’s role in the past and be a part of some investigative thrillers. But, Anweshippin Kandethum and its protagonist are entirely different. Though based on a real crime investigation, the script is crafted to offer many edge-of-the-seat moments and maintain suspenseful elements throughout.”
